JEANNIE HOMAN MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP
The Lexington Community Foundation administers this scholarship, established in 2023 by Jeannie Homan. She established this scholarship after experiencing the joys of teaching music for 45 years in Dawson County. She taught K-12 vocal and instrumental music in varied combinations in Overton and Lexington. This scholarship was established to encourage future music students from Dawson County.

This scholarship is valued at $500 to be awarded to a future music teacher during their student teaching semester at a public or private school.

QUALIFICATIONS
Consideration for the scholarship will be given to any student who will be graduating or has graduated from a Dawson County High School with an accumulative GPA of 3.0 or above and will be in their student teaching semester at a four-year institution. The student teaching semester experience can be either vocal or instrumental. If the student changes their major or does not follow through with student teaching in music, the award is forfeited.

Funds will be sent to the Office of Financial Aid and the student’s school of choice. Additional requirements may be needed for payment.
