JOHN AND JANET WIGHTMAN SCHOLARSHIP

DESCRIPTION AND QUALIFICATIONS
A scholarship valued at up to $2,000.00 will be awarded each year. The recipient will receive $500.00 each semester for up to four semesters, in the event the student has met the following criteria:

Eligible applicants should be entering their sophomore or junior year and must have completed at least 30 hours maintaining a minimum of a 3.2 GPA while attending any accredited four-year college within or outside the State of Nebraska.

The scholarship shall be based upon both need and scholastic achievement, with factors to be considered as set forth below. At least one scholarship shall be awarded to a minority student.

Preference shall be given to any student (1) with a demonstrated interest in teaching in Lexington’s dual-language elementary program; (2) with an interest in a career in public service with a demonstrated history of volunteerism; or (3) who has received a freshman Foundation Scholarship.

Applications may be made after the completion of the freshman or sophomore year.

Criterion and consideration shall be as follows:

Scholarship 45%
Need 40%
Preference (1) above 10%
Preference (2) above 5%
Preference (3) above 5%

AWARD DISBURSEMENT
Funds will be sent to the Office of Financial Aid and the student’s school of choice. Additional requirements may be needed for payment.
